IIT Madras inaugurated research centre for research on Startups and Risk Financing
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has inaugurated a Centre for Research on Start-Ups and Risk Financing (CREST) to facilitate academic and thought leadership in innovation, entrepreneurship and risk capital.
The institution will also create a data repository on Indian startups and ventures to address a major hurdle for engaging in high-quality research. IIT-M mentioned that evidence from the deep academic research will definitely assist in policy-making as well as increase the efficiency of managerial and investment decision making in entrepreneurship.
Risk capital investment has shown a skyrocketing investment touching $68 billion in the period of 2011-20. Therefore, academic research and thought leadership can play a vital role in sustaining and furthering this development in the entrepreneurship sector.
