Air India, the country’s premier global airline, has announced the launch of Wi-Fi internet connectivity on its domestic and international flights operated by Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft.
With this development, Air India becomes the first airline to offer in-flight Wi-Fi on domestic flights within India, allowing passengers—whether traveling for leisure or business—to stay connected during their journey. They can browse the web, access social media, catch up on work, or stay in touch with family and friends.
"Connectivity has become an essential part of modern travel. For some, it offers the convenience of sharing in real-time, while for others, it enhances productivity and efficiency. We are confident that our guests will value the option to stay connected and enjoy the upgraded Air India experience onboard these aircraft," said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Air India.
The service is available on Wi-Fi-enabled devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops (iOS or Android). Passengers can also connect multiple devices simultaneously once the aircraft reaches an altitude of 10,000 feet*.
The domestic Wi-Fi rollout follows a successful pilot program on international routes operated by Airbus A350, select Airbus A321neo, and Boeing 787-9 aircraft to destinations including New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. Wi-Fi service remains complimentary for an introductory period, with plans for gradual expansion across other aircraft in Air India's fleet.
