Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a major roadshow in Udupi, Karnataka, on November 28, 2025, drawing massive crowds and prompting heightened security with over 3,000 personnel deployed to ensure safety and order. The roadshow began at Narayanaguru Circle in Bannanje and proceeded up to Kalsanka Junction, with thousands of supporters and onlookers lining the route to greet the Prime Minister.
Massive Public Participation
The event marked a significant moment in Udupi’s political and cultural calendar, as enthusiasm built among residents and party workers ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. The BJP district leadership, led by Kutyaru Naveen Shetty, coordinated extensive preparations, including barricading one side of the road and organizing cultural performances that showcased the traditions of coastal Karnataka, such as Yakshagana, tiger dance troupes, and Krishna-themed artistes positioned along the route.
The party anticipated over 30,000 people would gather along the Bannanje–Kalsanka stretch to welcome Modi, with instructions for supporters to take their positions by 10:30 am to ensure smooth arrangements.
High-Level Security Measures
Security was a top priority, with a rehearsal conducted by state police and security forces the previous day. The drill covered the Adi Udupi helipad, the roadshow route, Sri Krishna Matha, and the venue for the public event.
The Special Protection Group (SPG) advance team arrived in Udupi to inspect all venues and finalize security protocols, coordinating closely with local authorities to manage the large gathering and traffic. Traffic restrictions and route diversions were imposed between 9 am and 3 pm to facilitate the Prime Minister’s movement and ensure public safety.
Visit to Sri Krishna Matha
Following the roadshow, Modi visited the Sri Krishna Matha for darshan, marking his first visit to the temple since assuming office as Prime Minister. He inaugurated the newly gold-plated Suvarna Teertha Mantapa and the golden covering of the Kanakana Kindi, highlighting the cultural and religious significance of the site.
Modi also participated in a mass ‘Laksha Kantha Geeta Parayana’ event, further connecting with the local community and showcasing his commitment to cultural heritage.
