'Your Next Client Is Waiting': YouMat Launches a Platform Built for Therapists

YouMat has launched YouMat for Therapists, a platform where counsellors meet clients live, with no cold DMs or empty calendars. Founder Ayan Mondal explains why.

“Someone is having the worst night of their life. They don't need a booking link. They need you, in minutes.”

That is the idea behind YouMat for Therapists, the newest launch from YouMat, the Indian mental health startup founded by Ayan Mondal. The platform invites counsellors and therapists to join a network where clients reach out in real time and the professional shows up live.

What Is YouMat for Therapists?

YouMat for Therapists is the counsellor-side offering of YouMat, a platform that connects people with professional counsellors through chat, voice and video without needing an appointment. Where most platforms are designed around the person seeking help, YouMat treats both sides as customers, and this launch puts the professional front and centre.

The pitch to practitioners is plain: no cold DMs, no empty calendars and no chasing clients. A user taps, and the counsellor appears live. Therapists can apply at youmat.in/apply.

The Problem It Aims to Solve

Ayan has long argued that counsellors and therapists, the pillars of the industry, receive too little attention from the platforms built around them. Practitioners often juggle client acquisition, scheduling, follow-ups and paperwork, time that could go into care.

YouMat's counsellor offering is designed to reduce that load. The company says therapists get transparent fees and payouts, fair earning opportunities, and simple tools to manage sessions, track client progress and cut administrative work.

"When professionals feel supported and valued," Ayan says, "they are better placed to support the people coming to them."

Why Real Time Matters

Mental health needs do not arrive on a calendar. A difficult moment at night, a stressful day at work, a sudden wave of anxiety: these are the moments when people most need someone to talk to, and when a booking system adds friction. YouMat's real-time model aims to remove that gap.

For the founder, the reason is personal. Ayan lost two friends to suicide, both struggling with career pressure. He still wonders whether having someone they felt safe talking to could have made a difference. That question is the root of the company's belief that support should be immediate, not scheduled for next week.

Context That Follows the Client

The launch also reflects YouMat's second pillar: continuity. The company is building Yumi, an AI intelligence layer that summarises, analyses and retrieves healthcare information in understandable language. For counsellors, Yumi is designed to help them understand the context behind the person they are supporting, so that clients do not start from zero in every session.

This matters for both sides. Clients feel understood without repeating their stories, and therapists walk into each conversation better prepared.

A Growing Counsellor Community

Ahead of its earlier launch, YouMat had a pool of more than 100 counsellors, with more joining. The company has since released version 2.0 of its platform and joined the Sarvam AI Startup Program, which provides AI infrastructure, models and technical support.

The therapist launch builds on that foundation. With more professionals on the platform, more users can reach someone in the moment they need help.

How Therapists Can Apply

Counsellors and therapists interested in joining can apply at youmat.in/apply . The platform lets professionals work through chat, voice or video, matching how clients choose to reach out.

The Bigger Picture

In five years, YouMat wants to become a leading force in mental healthcare, making access to counsellors simpler and more immediate worldwide, including across borders wherever professional requirements allow. Beyond counselling, it plans consumer healthcare products, AI agents for healthcare enterprises and its own research labs.

For now, the focus is on the people who make care possible. As the launch message puts it, "The future of therapy won't wait for an appointment."
