How a Grandson’s Vision Sparked Livestockify’s Rise in Agri-IoT Innovation
Growing up watching his grandfather battle the unpredictable challenges of poultry farming, Akhil Reddy always knew he wanted to make a difference. But it wasn’t until he combined his passion for technology with his firsthand understanding of farmers’ needs that the vision for Kuppismart Solutions Pvt Ltd (Livestockify) truly began to take shape.
“I’ve seen my grandfather struggle to keep his poultry healthy with limited tools,” Akhil shares. “That’s what inspired me—to build something that not only helps him but also supports countless other farmers facing the same issues.”
Today, Livestockify is bridging the gap between agriculture and technology, empowering small and medium-scale poultry farmers with cutting-edge tools that once seemed out of reach.
Meet the Founder: A Technologist Rooted in Real-World Impact
An Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduate from Vellore Institute of Technology, Akhil Reddy is not your typical entrepreneur. With a background in machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and electric vehicles, Akhil has always been drawn to solving real-world problems through innovation. From building self-balancing robots and EV chargers to leading as the finance head for an IEEE student chapter, Akhil’s experience spans both tech and leadership. But it was his deep-rooted connection to farming—through his grandfather—that steered him toward agritech.
“I believe in merging technology with practical solutions. That’s always been my goal,” he says.
Identifying a Market in Crisis
While agriculture has seen tremendous evolution globally, livestock farming in India still grapples with outdated practices. Most farmers rely on manual observation to detect disease or distress among animals—a system that’s not only inefficient but often too late.
“There was a clear gap,” says Akhil. “Farmers lacked real-time, affordable health monitoring tools. The existing solutions were either too expensive or not designed with their needs in mind.”
Livestockify stepped into this void with a mission: make smart farming accessible and actionable for every poultry farmer.
Inside Livestockify: The Tech Behind the Mission
At the heart of Livestockify’s offerings is an ecosystem of AI and IoT-powered tools that deliver proactive, non-invasive livestock health monitoring. Here’s a glimpse of what’s under the hood: 1. IoT Sound Devices: These listen to poultry shed acoustics 24/7, analyzing bird sounds for signs of stress, illness, or respiratory issues. 2.Water Quality Sensors: Monitoring pH, temperature, and TDS levels, these devices prevent waterborne illnesses before they start. 3.Vision System: With intelligent cameras, the system performs automated bird counting, weight estimation, and behavior tracking—all without disturbing the flock. 4.Centralized App/Web Platform: Farmers receive real-time alerts, productivity analytics, and even farm-to-market traceability for safer, transparent food chains.
What truly sets Livestockify apart is its multi-modal integration of sound, vision, and environmental data—making it a comprehensive early warning system for poultry health.
“We’re not just giving farmers tools—we’re giving them insights. That’s the real value,” Akhil emphasizes.
Building from the Ground Up: Challenges and Growth
The journey hasn’t been easy. As a young founder tackling a traditionally conservative industry, Akhil faced multiple hurdles: 1.Technical Complexity: Fusing hardware, ML algorithms, and real-time data processing wasn’t straightforward. “We had to prototype, test, fail, and learn. It was a steep curve,” he recalls. 2.Funding and Mentorship: Early resource limitations meant Akhil leaned on incubation programs and national innovation challenges to bootstrap and build credibility. 3.Farmer Trust and Adoption: Perhaps the most personal challenge was convincing traditional farmers to adopt new technology.
“I worked closely with farmers like my grandfather to ensure our tools were genuinely useful, not just flashy tech.”
Support from startup hubs like T-Hub, VITTBI, IIMA Ventures, IITK, Bharath Impact (Jubilant Organisation), RICH- Hyderabad, IKP, IIT ROPAR, STPI OctaNE, Downtown university TBI. and Ag Hub played a pivotal role in overcoming scaling bottlenecks and refining Livestockify’s go-to-market strategy.
Breakthrough Moment: Winning the Trust of a State
The game-changing moment for Livestockify came at the AI Tech 2.0 event organized by the Andhra Pradesh Government. Akhil presented Livestockify’s innovation in front of key stakeholders—including the Chief Minister.
“The Chief Minister personally acknowledged our work and encouraged a district-wide pilot,” Akhil says with pride. “It validated everything we were working toward.”
The event opened doors to paid pilot trials, strategic partnerships, and invaluable user feedback—catapulting Livestockify into the spotlight of India’s agritech revolution.
Vision 2025: Scaling Smart Farming Across South Asia
Looking ahead, Akhil has ambitious plans.
“In five years, we want to be present in 20,000 poultry farms across India, transforming how farmers interact with their livestock,” he says. The team also plans to broaden their solution set, exploring supply chain integration, more livestock categories, and regional customizations.
Livestockify isn’t just building products—it’s building a movement for sustainable, tech-enabled agriculture. With expansion plans across South Asia, the startup is poised to become a key player in global agritech.
Lessons for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Akhil’s story offers rich insights for budding founders
1.Start with a real problem:“If your idea doesn’t solve a genuine pain point, it won’t stick,” he advises. 2.Engage with users early: “We built our first prototypes based on direct conversations with farmers.” 3.Keep learning and adapting: “From AI to hardware integration, I had to constantly upskill. You don’t need to know everything upfront—just be ready to learn.” Most importantly, Akhil urges entrepreneurs to stay persistent and purpose-driven: “Your journey won’t be smooth, but if your mission is strong enough, you’ll find a way.”
