Having spent years working with financial giants such as IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank, IL&FS Investsmart, and Karvy Stock Broking, Krishna had a front-row seat to the systemic barriers that ordinary investors faced.
In 2007, he decided to do something about it — to democratize access to private market investments in India through transparency, technology, and trust.
Wealth Wisdom India Private Limited was born out of Krishna’s vision to bridge the gap between private opportunities and retail investors. At the time, unlisted and delisted shares were almost mythical — difficult to find, harder to trade, and nearly impossible to value transparently.
“When we started, many equity investors were still holding shares in physical form. Issues like lost share certificates, signature mismatches, or address changes made it very hard for them to regain control of their holdings,” he explains.
Krishna and his team saw an opportunity not just to provide access but to restore confidence in a market that many had written off as opaque and illiquid. “Earlier, the physical submission of Delivery Instruction Slips (DIS)—which had to be filled manually—used to take a lot of time for transferring shares,” Krishna recalls.
“We pioneered online share transfers and net banking payments, reducing processing time and revolutionizing private share trading.”
Building trust in a largely offline market was another challenge. “Since the private market was opaque, investor trust was a big challenge. We focused on ethical practices, transparency, and investor education,” he shares.
The turning point came when WWIPL launched tools like the Private Market Portfolio Tracker and PRIMEX 40 Index, cementing its reputation as a market innovator.
Hiring was also a challenge in this niche space. “We had to hire freshers and train them extensively. That decision paid off — our in-house expertise became a cornerstone of long-term growth,” Krishna adds.
Eighteen years since inception, Wealth Wisdom India has helped thousands of investors confidently access and trade in unlisted, delisted, and pre-IPO shares. The company’s growth mirrors India’s private markets’ transformation — from fragmented and offline to technology-driven and transparent.

“Build a strong team — even if it means training fresh talent. Listen to customers, stay flexible, and uphold transparency, integrity, and quality.”
