Migrating to metro cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi, or Mumbai for higher education and better job opportunities is not new in India. As many are moving to cities to chase urban life, it is becoming increasingly difficult for people to find a home to stay.

With several people moving to the city for new jobs, starting up their business, students for their coaching classes and colleges, accommodations are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive.

The couple launched the aggregator platform Convivo.in, which helps people to explore, compare & book the right accommodation based on their preferences.The startup aims to make accommodation search easier by providing multiple options.

Spaces that are best suited to match their expectations and preferences," Priya tells Startup Times.

She belongs to a middle-class family in Gurugram, Haryana, where girls are not privileged to get proper education & work. She was the 1st girl in her village who took the courage to stand against the orthodox mindset of the family and society & decided to create a path of her own. She, for the first time, went for higher studies to build upon her career & then started working in the corporate sector, which gave her the confidence to grow & succeed. Now she is the Founder & CEO of "India's biggest platform for co-living spaces, "Convivo.in" from where one can find the best-suited rental accommodation. 

For her, life has never been so easy, but she believed in herself and kept going.

Settling in a new city

When she and her husband (Vaibhav Atri) first shifted to Pune, it was all a mess for them to find ready to move in home which they really like. They kept on hopping from one broker to another, one website to another but didn't get the solution. In fact, they moved to a furnished space thinking it would resolve all the problems but the problem started thereafter; when they had to deal with various people for installing wifi, RO, DTH and housemaid which made them all go crazy. 

After a few months, they got to realize that there are a few options available in the market which not only provide the best living experiences but will take care of all the hassles which come after shifting. Based on their experience, they thought that there must be a lot of people like them who aren't aware of such places as there isn't any single platform available from which one can find & compare. The idea of creating a platform like Convivo.in emerged to help migrants search for the best suited ready to move in co-living spaces based on their choice & get a chance to compare from various options available.

But like every other journey, this one was also full of challenges. The biggest challenge was to convince themselves & their family as "Entrepreneurship is tough & involves high risks." They both left their high-paying corporate jobs to give time to create something which could really have an impact. 

When a challenge arises, the question is, how do we face our challenges? Can we see the value in our challenges and not only obstacles? Can we accept the challenges that come our way and let go of our resistance to them? Are we able to listen to the question that each challenge asks, "Do you know why I'm here?" The duo was able to listen to the question. 

Within a short span of time, Convivo.in has been able to onboard every major co-living operator across India on its platform and has successfully assisted more than 1000 people in getting the right "ready to move in space" for them in various parts of the country. They are currently operating in Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi & Gurgaon and their goal is to expand their presence across the country and abroad in the next two years. "We aspire to be the face of co-living by promoting, educating & bringing the due research & innovation to the industry", says Priya.
