How FlexiBees is helping startups hire affordable talent during the pandemic

About FlexiBees

Founded by IIM Bangalore alumni- Deepa Narayanaswamy, Rashmi Rammohan and Shreya Prakash, FlexiBees is a talent curation platform that solves two critical pain points. The startup helps businesses hire flexible talent swiftly in a cost-effective manner, and it claims to bring qualified women back to the workforce through flexible opportunities for career-building across part-time, project-based and remote roles.

At present, the startup has a talent pool of 27000+ professional women and has served more than 250 companies including giants like Kimberly Clark, Tata Realty & Infrastructure startups such as fintech platform Creditmantri, skill assessment company Mettl, logistics-tech company Delhivery, and more.

Co-founder of FlexiBees, Shreya Prakash, said, “Many businesses have hired part-time and project-based talent during the pandemic. It helped them grow while preserving cash-flows.”

How does FlexiBees help startups?

FlexiBees deals with one of the biggest challenges that startups face, which is hiring experienced talent that is appropriate for their budget. It caters to this by offering experienced professionals through affordable and agile part-time and project-based models, that guide startups to hire quality talent as and when they require.

At the centre of how FlexiBees functions are its distinctive matching of a role to the talent. “We realised early on that matching the same way that marketplaces do will not work for us. For one, startups today are hiring all kinds of roles flexibly, from sales to marketing to content strategy, and marketplaces are not equipped to do these complex skill matches,” says Rammohan.

This matching process is a comprehensive multi-step process that not only monitors functional fit, but also matches for determinants such as time availability, commitment, and much more.

As per a survey by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), a company takes an average time of 36 days to hire an employee. FlexiBees advocates that it significantly lowers the time and effort required by 90% since businesses only have to select a final candidate from a filtered batch of options sent to them by the startup.

FlexiBees has provided companies with a part-time talent for many projects across a variety of functions & skill-sets like inside sales, business development, marketing, digital marketing, public relations, investment banking, technology, content development, writing, graphic design and so on.

All these companies have been immensely benefited as they were able to hire high-quality talent at pricing that was optimised only for the hours of work they need.

Significance of hiring flexible talent during these times of a pandemic

During these times, the flexible talent ecosystem attracts experts across different industries and with various different skills. This means a startup today can find virtually any skilled and expert talent they need from this pool.

Hiring, onboarding and joining can all be completed within 1-2 weeks or less. This aspect is crucial to the flexible talent ecosystem, bringing huge agility to businesses during these difficult times.

The manner of engagement with this talent pool can be as custom as the business requires. Part-time models are hugely cost-effective for businesses as one gets high expertise at a fraction of the cost, and remote-working unlocks cost benefits as well as enables them to hire talent uninhibited by geographical boundaries.

Future plans for FlexiBees

With 15% of the business coming from international clients, FlexiBees has plans to focus on other geographies.

It even intends to bring global talent onto its platform as the founders believe that gender inequality in the workforce is not a regional issue and they will continue to put in the effort to solve the big cause.

With the COVID-19 pandemic leading to startups trying new approaches, strategies, MVPs, etc, part-time and project-based talent that are high-quality and affordable, can help.
