“I wanted to do something more meaningful — something that could create a real impact on society and the nation,” Pankaj says. This desire took him on a journey of reflection and exploration. After months of researching, brainstorming, and rejecting countless ideas, he began noticing a gap in one of the most foundational stages of human development — early childhood education.
Despite India’s booming EdTech sector, the youngest learners — those between the ages of 3 and 7 — were often overlooked. Existing platforms were either too expensive, too generic, or too passive. Paper notebooks were still the norm, adding financial pressure on families and environmental burden on the planet. Where was the innovation?
That’s when Effling Kids was born.

“We are not replacing teachers,” Pankaj clarifies. “We are replacing the recurring cost of notebooks and the environmental damage they cause, while helping children learn in a smarter, more sustainable way.”
Against All Odds: The Startup Journey
But let’s not sugarcoat it — the road to building Effling was anything but not easy.
With no external funding and no entrepreneurial background, Pankaj bootstrapped the company from scratch. The financial stress was overwhelming. Paying salaries on time, managing daily operations, and sustaining growth with limited resources felt like walking a tightrope in a storm.
“I can’t tell you how many times I thought of quitting and going back to a stable job,” he confesses. “But I had a vision. I knew what I wanted to create — and that belief kept me going.”

In the startup world, validation is oxygen. And for Effling, the first breath came with their selection into Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre at UPTTI, Kanpur and the disbursement process is currently in progress.
Shortly after, the release of Effling Kids version 1.3 marked a massive leap. Toddler Mode, Multi-Kid Support, and the Note Feature weren’t just product upgrades — they were declarations of intent. Effling wasn’t here to participate in the market. It was here to transform it.
“We realized we weren’t just building an app,” Pankaj reflects. “We were building a movement.”
Recognition from Startup India, Startup Uttar Pradesh, and the Wadhwani Foundation’s Liftoff 2.2 further reinforced that Effling was headed in the right direction.

So what does the future hold for Effling Kids?
“In the next five years, I want Effling to be the go-to learning platform for every child in India between the ages of 3 and 7,” Pankaj says confidently. “I want to inspire kids to enjoy writing, creating, and thinking — not just consuming.”
He envisions a world where technology is not a crutch but a canvas — where eco-friendly, affordable, and personalized learning tools empower the youngest generation to thrive, regardless of geography or economic background.
But he’s not stopping there. With planned AI integrations, community-building features for parents, and curriculum partnerships on the horizon, Effling Kids is poised to become not just a product, but a paradigm shift.
