The Moment Everything Changed
Shalini Sen didn’t set out to become an entrepreneur. In fact, she was already building something — just not her own. As the head of the Kolkata branch at a leading digital agency, she was steering creative campaigns, managing business targets, and nurturing client relationships with precision. But something didn’t sit right.
“I realized I was giving my heart and soul into building someone else’s business brick by brick,” Shalini reflects. “What if I put the same effort into my own organization, the one I had always dreamt of?”
That question lingered until a series of events gave her the answer — and the final push.
After switching to another startup for a better role, she found herself trapped in a toxic work environment.
“Within the first seven days, I knew something was off. They didn’t value my experience, they just wanted my local contacts,” she says.
The experience was jarring enough to shake her confidence — but it also became catalytic.
“I left after a month, without taking salary. That was the lowest point of my career but also the day I decided to finally start on my own.”
With just one employee and a heart full of conviction, CoCreate Network was born.
Meet the Founder: A Storyteller at Heart
Shalini’s journey into entrepreneurship is deeply rooted in her love for storytelling and communication. She began her career in long-format content with the legendary Mukta Arts Ltd, Subhash Ghai’s production house. From there, she transitioned into digital advertising with agencies like Circus Elephants and Digital Refresh Networks, eventually heading creative and business operations in Kolkata.
Her career has spanned sectors from fashion to FMCG, construction to personal care. But what ties it all together is her instinct for creative strategy and her ability to cut through the noise.
“Brands love me not just for my prompt creative solutions, but also for my unbiased opinion and quick problem-solving approach,” she shares.
That blend of creativity, clarity, and confidence would soon become the DNA of CoCreate Network.
The Gap in the Market: One Size Doesn’t Fit All
The idea behind CoCreate wasn’t just to start another agency — it was to fill a glaring gap in the industry.
“There are agencies that are great with ideas but weak on execution. Others are affordable but lack originality — they follow a ‘one plan fits all’ model,” Shalini explains.
She envisioned something different: an agile agency offering standout ideas, fast turnarounds, affordable pricing, and hands-on execution — all in one.
CoCreate Network’s Services Include:
- Social Media Management
- Influencer Marketing
- Content Strategy & Scripting
- Creative Supervision
- Video Production
- Website Design & Development
What sets them apart?
“We don’t outsource creativity. We’re involved from scratch to finish. Every piece of content that goes out, whether it’s a high-budget video commercial or a single Instagram post, carries our personal touch.”

Early Days: Winning Trust One Client at a Time
Starting from scratch had its hurdles. The biggest? Convincing clients to believe in her as an independent founder.
“Clients knew me from my past roles. But now I was representing myself — not a big agency. And that made them hesitant at first,” she says.
It took grit, consistency, and unwavering confidence in her work to win them over.
“I just needed a chance — and once I got that, I let the work speak for itself.”
And speak it did.
Breakthrough Moment: Beating the Big Guns
Every startup has its turning point — and for CoCreate Network, it came during Pujo season.
Last year, Shalini and her two-member team competed in a multi-agency pitch for Reliance Smart Bazaar. Against all odds, they won. The campaign didn’t just go live — it won Gold in the Retail Excellence category at the prestigious MAA Awards by Adgully.
“That was our first big campaign, and it was for a major national brand. To be awarded for it — that’s a milestone I’ll never forget,” she smiles.
This win wasn’t just validation. It was a signal to the industry that CoCreate Network had arrived.

Looking Ahead: Studios, Storytelling & Scaling Up
Shalini isn’t done building. The next big step for CoCreate is a physical studio space — a content hub for influencers and creators to shoot, collaborate, and create with ease. It’s already in the works.
She also dreams of expanding back to where it all began — Mumbai.
“I want to open a small branch there in the next few years. Mumbai is where my journey started, and I’d love to bring CoCreate’s energy to that city.”
But even as she talks of expansion, her focus remains clear: building thoughtful content that connects — not just clicks.
Lessons from the Journey: Real Talk for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
What can aspiring founders learn from Shalini’s journey? Here are her hard-earned insights:
Start with conviction, not just ambition.
“You have to believe in your idea when no one else does, especially in the beginning.”
Work ethics matter more than where you work.
“I gave my 100% even while working for others — that discipline prepared me for the entrepreneurial grind.”
Know your value. Don’t settle.
“Walking away from a toxic job without taking salary? That was hard. But I regained my confidence by betting on myself.”
Let your work be your loudest pitch.
“Once people see the results, their doubts fade.”

Final Word: CoCreating a New Era of Content
What started with a rough goodbye and a risky leap has turned into one of Kolkata’s most promising new-age content agencies.
With creativity at its core and execution in its bloodstream, CoCreate Network is more than just a service provider — it’s a creative partner for brands that want to stand out.
And at the center of it all is Shalini Sen, a founder who dared to bet on herself — even when it hurt. In doing so, she’s built a business — and a legacy — that continues to grow, one idea at a time.
