Weekend Lockdown imposed in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh govt on Tuesday forced the end of the week lockdown in the state to control the spread of the Coronavirus. The lockdown will happen on Friday at 8 pm and proceed till Monday at 7 am. The weekend lockdown will come into power from 24 April.

The Supreme Court Tuesday conceded a break stay on the Allahabad High Court request guiding the Uttar Pradesh government to force exacting limitations till April 26 of every five urban communities during the surge in COVID-19 cases. 

"There will be a break stay on the request for the high court," a seat headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde said while hearing the express government's supplication against the request passed on Monday. 

The high court had guided the Uttar Pradesh government to force exacting limitations including shutting of shopping centres, shopping edifices and cafés till April 26 of every five urban communities, however, avoided considering it a "total lockdown". Allahabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Nagar and Gorakhpur are the urban communities wherein the high court has coordinated controls.
